Over kunstenaar Iurie Matei

Iurie Matei,
geboren 11 maart 1968 in de nabijheid van Chisinau, de hoofdstad
van de Republiek Moldavië, begon al jong te schilderen. Hij
studeerde eerst aan het College voor Schone Kunsten en studeerde
in 1995 af aan de nationale Kunstacademie van Moldavië. De jonge
kunstschilder Iurie Matei werd al gauw het paradepaardje van zijn
opleidingsinstituut, en kreeg net als Pablo Picasso ooit, al
spoedig te horen dat zijn academiedocenten hem niks meer konden
leren. In Oost-Europa wordt zijn talent en stijl wel
vergeleken met dat van de grote surrealist Salvador Dali.
Ook zijn oeuvre
is nu al ongekend groot. Hij heeft een eigen televisieprogramma
over beeldende kunst op de nationale televisiezender van Moldavië
en ook een programma op de Roemeense televisie. Hij is daarnaast
betrokken bij grote theater- en filmprodukties als ontwerper van
kostuums en decors en is inmiddels zelf docent aan de Nationale
Kunstacademie van Moldavië.

Tijdens de laatste
jaren van zijn studie werd hij bij toeval geïntroduceerd
in het circuit van diplomaten, dit leidde tot een snelle
doorbraak in het buitenland. De lijst met exposities is
ondanks zijn leeftijd indrukwekkend te noemen: Moskou,
Kiev, Venetië, Odessa, Praag, Den Haag, Amsterdam,
Ankara, Parijs, Madrid, Boekarest, Boedapest, Rome en
Milaan. Hij exposeerde er in galeries, in musea en op
kunstbeurzen. Zijn werk is o.a. aangekocht door de
president van de verenigde staten Bill Clinton, I.O.C.
president Antonio Samaranch, de Franse president Giscard
d'Estaing en de ambassadeurs in Moldavië van o.a. de
Verenigde Staten en Canada.
Zijn werk is daarnaast te vinden in tientallen
particuliere collecties in Duitsland, Noorwegen, USA, Israël,
Frankrijk, Moldavië, Oekraïne, Canada en
Nederland.
In Nederland werd zijn werk voor het eerst gepresenteerd
op de Holland Art Fair in Den Haag in 1998 en in 1999.
Galerie Beeldkracht vertegenwoordigt Iurie Matei thans
exclusief in Nederland en presenteert zijn nieuwste olieverfschilderijen
op kunstbeurs Kunst-
& Antieksalon Primavera 2008 in het AHOY te Rotterdam. |

Born on March 11, 1968, in Cazangic, Moldova. Graduated from the
Art School "Alexandru Plamadeala" (1987) and the
Institute of Fine Arts, Faculty of Plastic Arts, "Painting
and Easel" Department (1995). Exhibitions: Chisinau,
Bucuresti, Constanta (Romania), Moscow (Russia), Budapest (Hungary),
Odessa (Ucraina, 1991, 1992, 1993 en 1994), Participant at the
"Holland art fair" - Den Haag, Netherlands (1998 en
1999). National Art Musem, Chisinau (1997, 1998). In The
Netherlands: Amsterdam (1997), Den Haag (1998). Canvases are part
of private collections in Moldova, Holland, Germany, USA, France,
Israel, Ucraine, Italy, Norway, Canada etc.
"The world of dreams and objective reality-these are a the
two poles between which the artistic options of the painter
gravitate. The artist's paintings, being surrealist by conjugation
of the delirious with the real, through the endorsement of
key-images of the world history of Arts, through the fine grammar
used, exploits with success the trans - textuality of the
quotation and are integrally applying to the actual post-modern
paradigm."
